With grand-sized synths and soaring falsetto, TEME channels the heart-wrecking intensity we experience when we’re going through a breakup in new single “DEF CON.” The track nestles you right in the last moments of a relationship when both parties start losing logic and try to cling onto a dooming hope. Hit play:

Of the new single, TEME said: “DEF CON sees the protagonist looking back at the ending of a relationship which descended into the destruction of both parties involved. Sometimes, when battling through a situation, people lose the ability to see that to keep going is more harmful in the long run – ‘I would have kept fighting on / But I’m more lonely when I’m with you.’

With such intensity, damaging sub-plots arise. When emotions are so high, and everything feels zero-sum, it’s difficult to understand what is normal. An unhealthy, powerful relationship between sadness and attraction arises, ‘And when you’re at your worst / Right then I want your skin.’ Indeed, when there’s such extreme sadness, the need for physical intimacy and release becomes even more powerful.”

The track is form their upcoming EP HA LF, which will be out on August 18th. The duo will be playing their headline show at Laylow in London on July 30th
