Pizzagirl Captures The Pains Of Being A Rockstar In “sugar ray”

It’s still a full-time job

Liverpool artist Pizzagirl is known for exploring quirky narratives and often surreal scenarios, but his latest Corey Rid-directed video “sugar ray” captures the unglamorous side of rock’n’roll. Being a rockstar is a job and comes with all the disappointments of an unstable industry filled with chaos, unexpected routines, admin crap, interview questions that sound like broken record, etc.

On the video, Corey Rid shared: “With a track that carries such strong emotion, it was key that we encapsulated exactly that. Alongside the incredible team that helped shape the atmosphere around the set, Liam took to the role of a depressed superstar and came away with scars to prove it.”

On the song, Pizzagirl added: “Sugar ray the movie, almost semi-autobiographical , is a wingless fly on the wall story of a rockstar going through the motions, packed with all the rock and roll cliches, dressing room smashing and face slapping. Following on from the ‘car freshener aftershave’ video, I’d like to think this rounds off the feelings of the album nicely (or not), those feelings probably better kept on the phone notes.”

Pizzagirl will go on his Softcore Tour soon.
