A reflection on growth and survival

UK artist Sam Fender has unveiled his sophomore album Seventeen Going Under, a complex and simply gorgeous record which he describes it as a “coming of age story.” The album feels like a mirror of Fender’s most intimate memories of his teenage years struggling with self-confidence and anger (“Seventeen Going Under”) to finding self-love (Mantra). All the highs and lows that are thrown to us as we enter adulthood are present throughout the record. “It’s about growing up. It’s a celebration of life after hardship, it’s a celebration of surviving,” explained Fender.
