Take A Reality Raincheck With Polar States’ “So Much Happened Since You Came”
Liverpool quartet Polar States draws us into a pool of gauzy, sizzling production with their latest single “So Much Happened Since You Came,” where they take us buoying into the shoegaze rock sphere. The dense atmosphere paired with the band’s performance energy makes both the song and visual a dreamy performance to take a raincheck from reality. “We wanted to keep the video super simple, so that it feels like you’re just watching us rehearse. It was shot one late winter evening and we finished it at 2am, before collapsing in a heap,” shared the band.
Speaking about the song, vocalist Paul explained, “We somehow ended up inheriting an old piano that originally belonged to The Wombats, and it opened up a whole other dimension to our writing. Suddenly it felt like our sound fell out of the sky. ‘So Much Happened Since You Came’ was the first song we wrote on it. I’m forever writing lyrics into my phone, often in the middle of the night in a hazy state. I sat down at the piano, opened my phone notes and there it was. 5 minutes later it was finished.”
The track is from their upcoming self-titled EP, which will be out on April 29th. They’ll be hitting stages the next few months.
